How to reduce static electricity troubles in label printers
1、 Reasons for static electricity generation during printing
The main cause of static electricity is friction. When two solid materials quickly separate after contact, one material has a strong ability to adsorb electrons and transfer them to the surface of the material, carrying negative charges, while the other material carries positive charges. In label printing, friction and contact between different substances can cause static electricity to be generated in the material.
Once the adhesive label material has static electricity problems, especially for film materials, the ink will be affected by static electricity, resulting in phenomena such as missed printing. The film and ink that generate static electricity are prone to problems such as knife threads due to the adsorption of dust and other foreign objects in the environment, which can seriously affect the label printer nozzle.
2、 Methods for eliminating static electricity in printing
There are many methods to eliminate static electricity, among which the best method is to utilize the characteristics of static electricity itself without changing the properties of the material itself.
Humidity control elimination method: As the air humidity increases, the surface resistance of the printing material decreases, thereby increasing the relative humidity of the air and improving the conductivity of the material surface, effectively eliminating static electricity. Generally speaking, the suitable environment for placing label printers in a room is a temperature of 20 ℃ and a humidity of around 60%. If the static elimination function of the processing equipment itself is insufficient, the environmental humidity can be appropriately increased. Install humidification equipment in the room or manually use a wet mop to clean the floor to increase environmental humidity and effectively eliminate static electricity.
