Before purchasing a tablet printer, first understand what RGB and CMYK are?
CMYK Color Mode
Color attribute: It is a color specifically used for printing. This is the true ink color.
It is another special color standard in the printing industry. It can obtain various colors by changing the four colors of cyan (C), magenta (M), yellow (Y), and black (K) and superimposing them. CMYK is an ink color used for four printing purposes: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. It is also the color of the four channels in Photoshop software. So some printing requires these four colors to print various colors.
RGB color mode:
Color attribute: It is the color of all things in nature (you can understand this first).
The RGB color mode is an industrial color standard. It obtains various colors by changing the red (R), green (G), and blue (B) color channels and overlaying them. RGB represents the colors of red, green, and blue channels. This standard almost includes all colors that human vision can perceive. It is currently one of the most widely used color systems. Related to our computers, most current displays are based on the RGB color standard, which is why it is so important to us.
The typical application of a monitor is to use an electron gun to emit colors towards the red, green, and blue light-emitting electrodes on the screen. Currently, computers can generally display 32-bit colors, with over one million colors available. If the color it displays does not completely match certain colors in nature, it is almost indistinguishable from our naked eye.
Application scope of computer design: display, RGB printing, RGB painting, etc.
Features: Rich and full colors, but cannot be used for ordinary color separation printing.
Mixing setting (additive mixing): RGB is designed based on the principle of color luminescence. Generally speaking, its color mixing method is red, green, and blue. When their light overlaps, the colors blend, and the brightness is equal to the sum of the brightness of the two lamps (the brightness of the two lamps!). The higher the brightness of the blend, the additive blend. Colored light can be diluted and illuminated by colorless light. If blue light encounters white light, it will produce brighter blue light. Knowing its mixing principle makes it easy to understand how to set colors in software. Red, green, and blue are superimposed, with the brightest overlapping area in the middle being white. The characteristic of stacked mixing is that the more stacked, the brighter the mixing. The red, green, and blue color channels are divided into 255 levels of brightness. At 0, the "light" is the weakest - off, while at 255, the "light" is the brightest. When the values of these three colors are the same, they are colorless grayscale colors, while the brightest white is 255 and black is 0.
The difference between CMYK and RGB:
Specifically, in printing, colors are generated by controlling the overlapping printing of blue, magenta, yellow, and black ink on paper. The number of colors is less than RGB.
Application scope of computer design: four color printing, four color printing, etc.
Unique feature: The colors are not as rich and full as RGB. It runs faster than RGB colors in Photoshop, and some features will not be used. Due to the fact that the number of colors does not exceed RGB colors, there may be some color loss when the image changes from RGB color to CMYK color (CMYK to RGB is not lost), but it is also the only color standard that can be used in four color separation printing.
Mixing setting (subtractive mixing): CMYK is designed based on the principle of light reflection, so its mixing mode is exactly the opposite of RGB, which is subtractive mixing.
When their colors overlap, they blend but their brightness decreases. Why? It is obvious how light enters the eyes through printed materials.
After printing four different inks on white paper, as the ink is transparent, most of the light will first pass through the ink and shine on the paper, while the reflectivity of white paper is higher. Most of the light will be reflected off the white paper for the second time through ink and then enter the eyes. At this point, the transfer of light to the ink produces a color effect.
In fact, this is like what we see as multiple overlapping colored glasses. When the light passes through another layer, the brightness decreases and the colors blend once.
The superposition of blue, magenta, and yellow ink, with the overlapping area of the middle three color ink being black. The characteristic of subtractive mixing is that the more overlapping, the darker the color.
In this software, the four channel colors of blue, magenta, yellow, and black are calculated as percentages, with 100% being the darkest and 0% being the brightest. The mixing of black and color is not related to this. Its existence is mainly for the convenience of adjusting the brightness of colors (in printing, there are many opportunities to use a single black color).
